Join data points across multiple columns and insert characters between each entry
Combining data across columns with delimiter characters is a common data transformation task, useful for things like creating full names out of name parts, or constructing email addresses. Yet it remains a manual and time consuming process. In Excel, you can use the Concatenate function, and in SQL you could use an INSERT statement with a few SELECTS and the concatenate operator.
With the Column Concat Object, you can concatenate any series of columns, choose the character to insert between the values, and choose how to handle blanks. In this example, we take parts of a name and construct a full name with a dash between the first and last name.
